Be friendly to others

Today's word: Exodus 16:1-6

1 The whole Israelite community set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had come out of Egypt. 2 In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. 3 The Israelites said to them, "If only we had died by the LORD's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death."

4 Then the LORD said to Moses, "I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. 5 On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on the other days."

6 So Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites, "In the evening you will know that it was the LORD who brought you out of Egypt,

How about you?
When you're in a new situation, do you wait for others to be friendly to you, or do you make an effort to talk to those around you? Do you pout and complian that you aren't having fun, or do you enter into the activities and do your best to be an asset to your team? Over and over in the Bible, we read that we are to love others, be friendly, and get along with those around us.

To memorize: Proverbs 18:24
A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother

If you read further in verses 6-8, in actual fact, the Bible tells us that this sort of grumbling by the Israelites was not against Moses, but against the Lord! That is a sobering thought.... Let us be careful not be considered as one of these sort of people. Rather, lets us be the people who bring the Light and Life of the Lord Whom we love and serve wholeheartedly!

yeah, we need to examine ourselves. are we sometimes like the israelites - complaining `modern' israelites. Sometimes we can't let go of old ways- always comparing what's happening today compare to the `good old days'. But we need to see today as a new day that God has created. ANd enjoy the new things He has in store for us. It maybe different - not something we're used to. But if we don't try, we never know what we're missing out!! Manna from heaven! :)
