Control your mouth
Today's word: James 3:3-10
3When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
7All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. 10Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.

Do unkind words sometimes slip out of your mouth? Remember that God made your mouth to praise and glorify Him. Words that hurt others don't please God. Ask Him to help you control your tongue when you feel a hot, vicious eruption building up.

Powerful tool our tongue. Can either build up or tear down. Hehe...if can't control the tongue, better to chop it off and throw it into the fire than the whole body being in hell for eternity..... yikes.... But really, this is what I need to mentally remind myself all the time. Sound advice my dad gave me a few years ago: IF you have nothing good to say. Don't say anything! ;)

One of my fav verses of reminder - Prov 18:21 "Death and life is in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit." i.e. if u love death and speak death, u will makan it. likewise if we value and appreciate life and speak it, we will eat that!
Agree Eulogia, sms and chat included even tho it might be easier to control our flying fingers! :-D

We are told not to be proud as pride can cause us to fall. True. But there is one thing that all of us can be proud of. We can take PRIDE in our having JESUS as our LORD and SAVIOUR. This is indeed something that we can certainly boast of. No need to be shy, neh.
