We need one another

Today's word: 1 Corinthians 12:12-20

12The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13For we were all baptized by[a] one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

14Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

How about you?
If things don't go your way, do you refuse to cooperate? Are your actions cutting you off from the fellowship of your friends? Christian friends are important, so ask God to forgive your selfishness. Be willing to sometimes do things someone else way.

To memorize: 1 Corinthians 12:14
Now the body is not made up of one part but of many

Jesus is the key to life

Today's word: John 3:14-18

14Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.[a]

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[b] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

How about you?
Are you trying to get to heaven by doing good, going to church, or giving money? Those are things God wants you to do, but they can't save you. You can enter heaven only through Christ.

To memorize: John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me

God knows best

Today's word: Isaiah 55:8-11

8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.

9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

How about you?
Do you blame God if He doesn't answer your prayers your way? Do you ask for things to satisfy your own selfish desire, or do you ask for God's will to be done? He has a purpose for everything.

To memorize: 1 Thessalonians 5:18
give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Obey God's "Stoplights"

Today's word: Colossians 3:5-10

5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[a]7You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

How about you?
Are you going through "red lights" that God has established? He says to stop lying, stop getting angry, stop using bad words, stop being disobedient, stop all the sins you committed before you were saved. When you're tempted to do some of those old things, ask God to help you say no. Obey His "stop light", and you won't have to pay the "fine".

To memorize: Colossians 3:9
Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices

Witness by your life

Today's word: Isaiah 43:10-12

10 "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD,
"and my servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am he.
Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me.

11 I, even I, am the LORD,
and apart from me there is no savior.

12 I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—
I, and not some foreign god among you.
You are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "that I am God.

How about you?
What kind of "translator" are you? Are you kind? Forgiving? Willing to share? Obedient? Friendly? Do those around you get a correct idea of what it means to be a Christian? Think about it.

To memorize: Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth

Follow God's rules

Today's word: James 1:19-25

19My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. 21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

How about you?
Do you know God's rules? Fo you follow them, or do you change them to suit yourself? You need to refer to His "rule sheet", the bible, so you'll know what He says. But knowing isn't enough. You need to follow His rules- to do what He says-as well.

To memorize: James 1:22
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves

Walk carefully

Today's word: Ephesians 5:14-21

14for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:
"Wake up, O sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you."

15Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. 18Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

21Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

How about you?
Are you foolish about the way you live, or are you careful in all that you do? Do you stay away from places where you might be tempted and do wrong? Do you avoid people who encourage you to sin? Be careful to live as God wants you to live. Be wise.

To memorzie: Ephesians 5:15
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise

Have faith in God

Today's word: Hebrews 11:1-6

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”;[a] for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

How about you?
DO you have faith? Do you ride in a bus or a plane or even a car without checking out the driver? That takes faith- a belief that those people will get you where you want to go. You'll find that you have faith in many other people, too. Then certainly you can have faith in God. Others can make errors, but not God.

To memorize: Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him
But without faith
