You are needed

Today's word: 1 Corinthians 12:18-27

18But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" 22On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

27Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

How about you?
Are you content with what God has given you to do? Or do you often wish for a greater, more important position? God says each one is needed. He doesn't list any position as greater than another. He just asks you to do your best in whatever job you are given. Do whatever you do"as unto the Lord".

To memorize: 1 Corinthians 12:18
God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be

Yes, God made each one of us unique and so we have different characteristics. But we are all His children. Our physical appearance does not really matter
very much as we all have inner beauty that is the more important. Praise God, I have learned to look for (therefore am able to see)the inner beauty of God's children.

Every part of the body has a role to play and is important in its own way. Every one of us as a member of the Church family is also important and we too need to play our part as the Holy Spirit directs. Every Church is also part of the body of Christ and thus we are one in all and all in one.

Remember, Our Lord says "the last shall be first and the meek shall inherit the earth". We are encouraged and advised to be humble
and to cast away our self-pride (we all have it as it is part of human nature)and store up treasures in heaven instead (as per yesterday's scripture passage).

Our Father in heaven knows best and has given us a role to play. We are all important in His eyes. Remember this when we are sad or depressed and the enemy launches a sneak attack at us. WE ARE LOVED by our family, friends, brethren-in-Christ AND our awesome God.

Hey Bob, my comments seems to be extra long. Hope you wont regret asking me to give a piece of my mind. Promise to be shorter and sweeter the next time.

wow stan, i didnt know that you can write...i apprciate it and i agree with u...last night i was reading a book by tony compolo...great writer, i like something what he wrote....a little long but please bare with me....

"You could go down to a local bar and nudge the guy next door and ask "Do you believe in Jesus?" In all probability he would say that he does believe in Jesus. He may be half drunk as he sits at the bar, but he still belives in Jesus. But that does not make him a Christian. That's because the thing that makes a person a Christian is not believing the right stuff, but whether or not that person is committed to Jesus. Being a Christian is dependent upon a peron's turning over his or her life to Jesus so that Jesus can use that person to do the things He wants to do in this world. A person is a Christian when he or she becomes totally committed to changing the things that God wants changed.

Are you committed? That's the big question. Are you willing to do whatever Jesus wants you to do? Are you willing whatever Jesus wants you do be? Are you willing to go wherever Jesus wants you to go? Jesus offers no 'cheap grace'. He does not call you to be a nice believer. He calls you to committed discipleship.

Oh yeah, Bob,

Just believing in Jesus alone does not make one a Christian. No way.

Satan "believes" in Jesus too and that sly guy certainly ain't one of us!

A Christian is one who proclaims Jesus as personal Lord and Saviour, admit he is a sinner and repents, receives God's grace and His forgiveness and will walk the path of righteousness as best as he humanly can, fighting temptation
daily with the Holy Spirit's help so as to claim the promise of eternal life.

Wow, was somehow inspired to write the aforesaid definition. All honour and glory to our Father God.

eulogia

Matthew 25:21
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'

Sometimes God gives us little humble starts to serving Him in ministry.

Zechariah 4:10
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin

E.g. Cleaning up powerhouse room before youth starts, arranging the chairs, cleaning up after, stacking back the chairs, helping the musicians with their instruments .....but if we are not faithful in these small things....how will God be able to put us in charge of bigger things - e.g. leading the entire worship team, be in charge of ministries. God sees the intention of the heart. If we only want to serve in `glamorous' positions and not wanting to be part in the mundane not so glamourous things e.g. picking up rubbish.....we really need to check our intentions. Are we really serving God or gratifying ourselves.....

That's right suz m, there are many different ways to serve the Lord.

Not all can be "chiefs" or else where will there be "braves" to lead right?

What is important is a willing heart...
