Throw away bad habits

Today's word: Colossians 3:8-16

8But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

12Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

How about you?
Are there bad habits you should throw away? Smoking? Alcohol? Drug? Internet pornograhic? Cheating? Selfishness? Get rid of bad habits and mkake room for new ones. Live as a new creature in Christ.

To memorize: Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience

"out with the unpleasant old, and in with the better new" is something we all aspire. The chance and the privilege to have a new life with Christ in our hearts is given to everyone who wants it.

However, our human weaknesses and sinful nature are too strong for us
to tackle alone. So the best way to get rid of our bad habits is to pray about it.

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my strength
and my Redeemer". [Psalm 19:14]

Amen and hallelujah.

well said stan. we also need to be accountable to another bro/sis in christ. Who will let us know if we're going off track in our christian life. I reckon nowadays lots of christians are struggling coz of lack of accountability to each other.

that's right, Suz M, to be mutually
accountable and responsible for each other and be able to "chastise
with love" whenever necessary.

Do you have such a "buddy-in-Christ
system" to strengthen one another
for PowerHouse members?

Looking out for each other will contribute to our spiritual growth
and keep us from straying too far
when we show concern and care for one another.
