Words can wound

Today's word: James 3:8-13

8but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

9With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. 10Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11Can both fresh water and salt[a] water flow from the same spring? 12My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

How about you?
Have you been shooting poisioned arrows? Do you need to apologize to someone? Do it today. And if you know someone who is having family problems, be especially kind.

To memorize: Proverbs 25:18
Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is the man who gives false testimony against his neighbor

this i need to becareful of.

yes, this one i must constantly remind myself as well. We really need to guard our tongue. Everyday i have to meditate on God's word. On the power of the tongue. Either to build up someone or to destroy. I want to edify, not crucify someone with what i say!

So very true. Sometimes we say things in anger that we regret saying but it is too late. The wound and the pain remains though we are truly sorry about the whole episode.

It has happened to me more than once but hopefully I have learnt my lesson. Now I keep constant guard on what I may say but it is so easy to let our guard down and hurt someone through stupid oor angry words.

It is a natural thing with us humans that is why the bible makes it a point to specifically warn us about our "dangerous" tongues.

Let us seek the Lord's help (as in the beautiful words of Suz M) to edify and not crucify in what we say. It is a tough thing to do. That is why we need to pray to be constantly reminded that "if we have nothing nice to say about someone, let us keep our mouths shut!"

Malice is a tool of Satan that we must be aware of at all times.
