Develop spiritual muscles

Today's word: Acts 17:10-12

10As soon as it was night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. 11Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. 12Many of the Jews believed, as did also a number of prominent Greek women and many Greek men.

How about you?
Are you out of shape spiritually? Have you been skipping daily prayer and Bible reading? If so, your attitude probably shows it. Don't allow your spiritual muscles of faith to become flabby. Determine now to "work out" spiritually every day.

Follow the holy bible

Today's word: Revelation 22:18-21

18I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

20He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon."
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

21The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen.

How about you?
The Holy Bible is the book which will show you the way to heaven. Other books may explain how you can be sure of heaven, but they must always refer to, and agree with, what God says in the Bible. If they don't, you must not believe them. Stay with the word of God.

Let God refine you

Today's word: Job 23:10-14

10 But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.

11 My feet have closely followed his steps;
I have kept to his way without turning aside.

12 I have not departed from the commands of his lips;
I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.

13 "But he stands alone, and who can oppose him?
He does whatever he pleases.

14 He carries out his decree against me,
and many such plans he still has in store.

How about you?
Do you ever wonder why someone has to suffer? Sometimes God allows an experience which seems to be a tragedy just to get our attention and make us better people. Don't rebel when God works out the impurities in you. Just as purified silver shows a clear reflection of the refiner, so your life should show a clear reflection of Jesus.

Be hospitable

Today's word: 3 John 1:6-11

6They have told the church about your love. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. 7It was for the sake of the Name that they went out, receiving no help from the pagans. 8We ought therefore to show hospitality to such men so that we may work together for the truth.

9I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will have nothing to do with us. 10So if I come, I will call attention to what he is doing, gossiping maliciously about us. Not satisfied with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers. He also stops those who want to do so and puts them out of the church.

11Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.

How about you?
When your parents ask guests to come to your house, do you complain because it means extra work? The next time when visitors ans friends is coming to your youth meeting, remember hospitality is one of the gifts given by the Lord. Practise showing Christian love by doing everything you can to welcome the guests.

Read your Bible faithfully

Today's word: Psalm 119:89-96

89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal;

I would have perished in my affliction.

Have you tried and failed to established a period of time each day for reading the Bible? When you do read, do you simply try to get through as fast as you can? God's word should be read regularly. but it ought to be read to get help for the Christian walk. Make God's word a natural part of your life

Show Jesus you love Him

Today's word: Matthew 22:35-40

35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:

36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[a] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[b] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

How about you?
Do you say you love Jesus? Do your actions prove it? It's not enough to say you love Him; you must show your love. If you love Him, you will want to go to His house, read His word, and talk to Him.

Always choose God's side

Today's word: Ephesians 6:10-18

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

How about you?
Are you living as though you're on the world's side or on the Lord's side? The world teaches you to do whatever "feels good" to you. God says, "Be holy as I am holy". The world teaches you to disobey and to be disrespectful to your parents. God says, "Honor your father and mother". Don't listen to the world's view or be swayed to their side in any area of your life. Be strong in the Lord.

Keep your life pure

Today's word: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[a]? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."[b]
17"Therefore come out from them
and be separate, says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you."[c]
18"I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."[d]

How about you?
Are such things as selfishness, bad TV, or foul language diluting your testimony? Do you try to dress like and act like the 'cool' kids you know, even if their ways are displeasing to God? Don't pollute your life with impure things. Ask God to keep you true to Him.

Give faithfully

Today's word: Malachi 3:8-12

8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me.
"But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'
"In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the LORD Almighty. 12 "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land," says the LORD Almighty.

Have you been giving God part of all the money that comes to you? God doesn't use only large offerings. He also uses the 10c, 50c and RM1 of boys and girls. Giving to God is exciting and rewarding. See how much you can give, not hoe much you can keep.

Keep on praying

Today's word: Luke 18:1-8

1Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. 3And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.'

4"For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' "

6And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"

Have you been praying for something or someone for a long time? Are you about ready to give up? Don't! Keep knocking. The answer is on the way.

Let Jesus be your hero

How about you?
Has that sports figure you admire been found guilty of bribery or taking drugs? Does the television personality you like use foul language and brag about an immoral lifestyle? Beware of making people into idols. Only Jesis is perfect. Choose Him for your hero.

Plan - seeking God's will

Today's word: James 4:13-17

13Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." 16As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. 17Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.

How about you?
Do you have plans for today? For tomorrow? For next week? Do you make plans without considering God's will for you? He is in control of all that happens, and your plans will some to pass only as He allows them to. Make all your plans with that knowledge in mind.

Be rooted in Christ

Today's word: Colossians 2:1-7

1 For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and[a] of Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
4 Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. 5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it[b] with thanksgiving.

How about you?
Do you take advantage of opportunities to be rooted in the Lord? Do you study your Bible? Listen in church? Take time to pray? You need to do those things. You need to be firmly rooted and established in your faith in Christ.

Christians have much in common

Today's word: Ephesians 2:19-22

19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

How about you?
Have you ever visited a church in another town? Was it a lot like the one you regularly attend? Christians have much in common - especially their love for the Lord. When you're on vacation or on a short term mission, you'll find that it's a good time to meet other Christians and fellowship with them.

See the good in others

Today's word: Philippians 4:4-9

4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

How about you?
Is it easy for you to see the faults instead of the good points in others? That seems to come naturally, but you can train yourself to concentrate on what you like about others. Ask God to help you love others as He does.

Be different for Jesus

Today's word: 2 Timothy 2:19-22

19Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his,"[a] and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness."

20In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. 21If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

22Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

How about you?
Can people tell by looking at your life that you're a Christian? They can't if they see you cheating, bad language, disobedience, or lying. Instead, let them see honesty, kindness, love and consideration. Let them see that you are different for Jesus.

Make the best of situation

Have you found that things don't always work out the way you hope? Remember, happiness comes from Jesus, not from circumstances. So when your plans go astray, cheerfully look to see what other plans He may have for you.

Jesus is the light of the world

Today's word: John 3:16-21

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.[b] 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

How about you?
Are you still in darkness - the darkness of sin? Jesus is called the Light of the world, and He is willing to take away the darkness from those who trust in Him. Won't you ask Him to do that today?

Spend time alone with God

How about you?
Is your time so filled with school activities and recreation that you hardly even think about God or the Bible? Be careful! If you don't set aside quite times to be alone with God, you'll miss many of the wonderful blessings the Lord has planned for you.

God's ways are good

Today's word: Romans 8:28-32

28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,[a] who[b] have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

How about you?
Do you fret when your plans are changed? Do you grumble when someone gets sick or hurt, making necessary to cancel an activity? Changes aren't always pleasant, but they can be good for you. Trust God to work through your interrupted plan.

God cares about small things

praise him, all you shining stars.

7 Praise the LORD from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,

How about you?
Do you realise that God cares about you- that you are important to Him? He created you and has a purpose for your life.You could not even live if it were not for His loving care, protecting and sustaining you every minute of every day. Don't you think you should be able to trust Him completely?
