Work together for Christ

Today's word: 1 Corinthians 3:1-10

1Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly—mere infants in Christ.
2I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 3You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men? 4For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men?

5What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.

10By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds.

How about you?
Have you ever been upset because someone else received credit for bringing your friend to church? Did that seem more important to you than the fact that your friend would hear about the Lord? You need to work together with other Christians in winning others to Jesus. Paul understood this. He knew the Lord was using himself and Apollos to further the Gospel. Witnessing is not a competition where one person wins and another loses. Instead, it's a responsibility that Christians share.

To memorize: 1 Corinthians 3:6
I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow

We should not be jealous, judgemental or make comparisons of ourselves with other CHristians, our even our organisations (denomination, church, youth group, small group). Each of us as an individual. As well as a body (the church, youth, small group etc) are part of GOd's HUGE gigantic plan of salvation, redemption & restoration. As we are created unique, God gives us unique methods and mannerisms to communicate His good news to the unchurched. We all have a small part to play to a huge jigsaw puzzle. Without one or the other, the jigsaw will never be complete. We should choose instead to be united & work together to achieve our ultimate goal - to preach the gospel to the ends of the world. togheter as CHRISTIANS, we will win the world for Christ.

Yeah, remember the jigsaw pieces at the PowerHouse Camp! Great illustration!

Take for instance, what Bob is doing with this devotional site - not everyone can do this sort of thing. Keep it up! Love the new look :D

denomination makes me mad. for what reason they said "-------" and not knowing that we are actually the same in God's eyes.

Yes, we all worship the same awesome and almighty God. So it does not matter which church we go to, which service we attend, which cell/small group that we belong to. We are all part of God's eternal family.

What I want and wish, however, is for more people who have been touched by God to come forward and give testimony on the blessings that they have received or on prayers that have been answered.

It is only by sharing and testifying that the greatness and goodness of God can be made known. To encourage and provide hope and to strengthen our faith. AND to bring those who have yet to know
Christ to accept Jesus as Lord and personal Saviour.

How wonderful it would be if there is at least one testimony during each Sunday service. Would like to urge ppl to come forward and bear witness for Christ.

PowerHse members, any of you guys keen to take up this challenge?

If anyone needs help on what to say, I am sure Bobby and Suz M or your section leaders will be more than willing to assist. (Oh yes, that includes me too if anyone wants my help).

Hallelujah. May God's abundant blessings be upon us all!
