Watch the little things

Today's word: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[a]? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."[b]
17"Therefore come out from them
and be separate, says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you."[c]
18"I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."[d]

How about you?
Are little things creeping into your life which will weaken you spiritually? What about the music you listen to, the books you read, the words you say? Check your life nowfor little sins that you need to destroy.

To memorize: 2 Corinthians 7:1
Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

I have learnt that our worldly flesh is our supreme weakness. It is not possible to keep to the righteous path on our own. Spiritual warfare is taking place all the time, whether we want to partake or not. We need to be virgilant in our daily life. We need to uphold each other.

It is so easy to fall but praise God, He is merciful and just. Our awesome God in His infinite love has got our weaknesses covered. (see 1 John 1:9)

Lord Jesus, in Your glorious name, I pray that You will keep us all spiritually healthy and strong and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit help us to remain obedient
children of God so that we can walk ever victorious. Amen.

It is not wrong to be friends with non-believers or else how can we get them to know about Jesus and Salvation?

The important and essential thing to remember is that we must Not be yoked (ie. "tied down together") with them. In other words, their ways are not our ways and there is the real danger that if we are not careful, we are most likely to go astray.(the sly devil is ever ready to give a helping hand)

Thus, it is of great significance that our relationship with people (other than family members of course) who are not followers of Jesus must not get too personal
(like falling in love??!!)as it will affect us tremendously.

How so? Well, unless he or she accepts Jesus as Lord and Saviour, our final destination is not, will not and can not be the same. Moreover, our walk with the Lord will be a lone one without our "life partner" alongside.

So, take heed as the Word of God says, "do not be yoked with a non-believer".

May the abundant blessings of our heavenly Father be upon us.

thanks for ur comment stanley and eulogia...im still waiting to hear from the fellow young powerhouse members to post their comment...i hope my effort of posting daily will not go in vain...im not even sure if they actually visited this page

Although I am not 'young' powerhouse, but I do visit, and THANKS a lot for your efforts. No it is not in vain.

My understanding of yoke is... do not chose to be bound to something that makes us unable to exercise our Christian faith and values. Could be any relationship... love, business, etc.

when we been tested and come out still steady then we can say "hey, I have developed some spiritual muscles". Do the right thing and things will be right. We all have our strength and weaknesses. Beware of weak moments. Been reading your Blog and comments. Most interesting. Will come by again.

yes, watch out for the little things in life. sometimes it's sooo sutle that u don't realise how much it has consumed your life until it's too late...i reckon lil things can be more dangerous and big obvious things. big obvious things will make the HUGE RED STOP sign come out immediately. But lil things are tricky. E.g. getting really close friends with a non christian of the opposite sex. initially tellin ourselves that `we are just good friends' ...little do we know that we are fallen in love. to the stage where some ppl are willing to give up their beliefs in order to marry the unbeliever. I've seen it happening in my friends lifes before. So lets guard our hearts. And also, have a group of friends whom you are accountable for whom you have given permission to `rebuke with love' should you astray unknowingly. As they say, `love can be blind!'

Oh yes, Suz m, love is not only blind---it is sometimes deaf and dumb also. Numbs the brain as well.

Must be choosy of the people we become close with, esp. where relationships are concerned.

Remember reading a story where the gal fell for a guy she thought was not a Christian and prayed to God for help. It turned out that the guy had lost touch with God when his dear wife died but all the time God was finding a new partner for Him. Happy ending when he found God again and the anguish of the gal with the "christian issue" was finally over. The story took place in Sabah where the couple met by accident, literally bumping into each other on the beach at Tg. Aru. Quite a touching story as the gal was a Singaporean who came to K.K. to start afresh when her fiancee died when his car smashed into an enbankment when a tyre burst.

Moral of the story? Keep faith in God (and check your car tyres periodically to ensure they are in good condition!)

Hey Bob, hope you wont find this posting inappropriate. Sorry if so.
