Be content

Today's word: Philippians 4:6-11

6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

10I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

How about you?
Where do you live? Do you find yourself complaining about what you don't have instead of counting your blessings? If so, now is the time to move out of that state of discontentment. Determine to be content whatever your circumstances.

Hmmm... did you know that famous verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" is actually 2 verses down from the passage we look at today? It's Phil 4:13.

What's more, verse 12 says "I know how to be abased (in need), and I know how to abound (in abundance). Everywhere and in all things, I have learned both to abound and to suffer need."

So that means it IS possible to be content, but only because of Jesus Christ Who gives us strength! Indeed, we don't have to be anxious about anything. Instead, our response to difficult and good situations should be to PRAY and to SUPPLICATE. In areas of need, we can, with THANKSGIVING, make our requests known to God.

Praise God! For me, that is soooo assuring, especially at this time when I am going through transition.

Yes, trust in our heavenly Father to take care of us and provide for our needs.

The secret to happiness is to be contented with what God has given us and be thankful for our blessings always.

Keep the faith. Our Lord reigns supreme and we can walk victorious with Him!
