Be a servent

Today's word: Luke 19:29-35

29As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30"Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it.' "

32Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. 33As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, "Why are you untying the colt?"

34They replied, "The Lord needs it."

35They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it.

How about you?
Are you afraid to try to speak out for Jesus? Are you afraid that if you try to sing a song or play an instrument to serve Him, you will make a mistake? Take a lesson form the donkey. Be available. Be loosed. And be controlled. The Lord needs you!

Express thankfulness

Today's word: Luke 17:11-19

11Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy[a]met him. They stood at a distance 13and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"

14When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.

15One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

17Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" 19Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well."

How about you?
Do you remember to thank others when they do something for you? How about thanking your parents for all the washing, cooking, shopping, and errands they do for you? How about thanking them for providing a home for you? Think of other people who do things for you and thank them. It takes practice to become a grateful and thoughtful person, but that's the kind of person God wants you to be.

Be a useful Christian

Today's word: Matthew 5:13-16

13"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

How about you?
Are you being a "good flavor" to your schoolmates? To your family? Jesus didn't say you could be like salt if you wanted to be. No, He said you are the salt of the earth. Live that way.

Use blessings for God

Today's word: Deuteronomy 28:1, 8-13

1 If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.

8 The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

9 The LORD will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the LORD your God and walk in his ways. 10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they will fear you. 11 The LORD will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land he swore to your forefathers to give you.

12 The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. 13 The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.

How about you?
Salvation is a free gift from God, but with it comes responsibilities. If you have been saved from sin, you have the responsibility of being a Christian witness, of living for God, of keeping His commandments. Every blessings comes with responsibility attached. Are you using your good mind, your voice, or you ability to make friends for the Lord? Are you giving Him your time and your money? Thank God for your blessings, use them for Him, and He will continue to bless you.

Be content

Today's word: Philippians 4:6-11

6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

10I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

How about you?
Where do you live? Do you find yourself complaining about what you don't have instead of counting your blessings? If so, now is the time to move out of that state of discontentment. Determine to be content whatever your circumstances.

Stand for right

Today's word: Matthew 5:10-12

10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

How about you?
Have you ever taken a stand for your convictions? Have you said no to an invitation to smoke? Have you refused to listen to dirty jokes? Have you spoken up for the Lord when evolution was tought? Taking a stand is not easy, and the immediate results are not always pleasant. But remember, the testing time will soon pass, and your reward for doing right wil be eternal.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all

Read God's word daily

Today's word: Psalm 25:1-6

1[a] To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;

2 in you I trust, O my God.
Do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.

3 No one whose hope is in you
will ever be put to shame,
but they will be put to shame
who are treacherous without excuse.

4 Show me your ways, O LORD,
teach me your paths;

5 guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.

6 Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.

How about you?
Do you forget to read your Bible, or even purposely neglect it, and then suddently try to "catch up" by reading faster or more often? That doesn't work well. The Bible is your spiritual food, and you need some of it every day. Set up a regular schedule for Bible reading. You'll see growth in your Christian life.

Let Jesus live in you

Today's word: Psalm 51:1-10

1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.

and cleanse me from my sin.

and my sin is always before me.

4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you are proved right when you speak
and justified when you judge.

5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts [a] ;
you teach [b] me wisdom in the inmost place.

7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.

9 Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.

How about you?
Have you wondered just what it means to ask Jesus to come into your heart? The word heart often does not refer to the physical organ in your body. Instead, it refers to your inner-most being, your "self"- not the physical body, but the real you. It's the part of you that goes on living after the body dies. It's the part that sins and needs to be saved. Have you asked Jesus to take those sins away?

Don't look down on others

Today's word: 1 Corinthians 4:5-8

5Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

6Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Then you will not take pride in one man over against another. 7For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

8Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! You have become kings—and that without us! How I wish that you really had become kings so that we might be kings with you!

How about you?
Do you know someone who has reason to be ashamed of his parents or even himself? Do you tend to "look down" on that person- to consider yourself better than him? Don't be proud. It's only because of God's grace to you that you're not in his position and he in yours. Thank God for what He's done for you. Then love others as God does.

All God sends is good

Today's word: Ephesians 5:18-21

18Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

21Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

How about you?
Do you think it would be nice to play all the time and never work? Just as there are many kinds of spices- hot, sweet, bitter, and fragrant- that lend their special touch to foods, God send you many kinds of experiences to make your life rich. He knows just what good times and hard times you need to help you live life at its best.

Love God, not possessions

Today's word: Luke 12:16-21

16And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. 17He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'

18"Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." '

20"But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'

21"This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."

How about you?
What things do you want very badly? What goals do you have for your life? Good grades? Money? Fun? Pretty clothes? A big car? Don't let them trap you into missing what God intends for you. It may be that He has those things in His plan for you, but you need to be willing to let them go. If they are not in His plan, you can be sure He has something even better.

Trust God in all situations

Today's word: Romans 8:18-23, 28

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

How about you?
Is it hard to be patient when you're not feeling well? When you have to go to a new school? When things just aren't going well? Perhaps God wants to teach you something, or to allow you to be an example of His Grace. Maybe He wants to cleanse you of some sin in your life, or protect you from an even greater danger in the future. Whatever His purposes are, you will find peace and joy when you fully submit to Him. He knows best!

Live close to Jesus

Today's word: 1 Peter 2:21-25

21To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
22"He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth."[a] 23When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 25For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

How about you?
Do you realise that you should spend time each day with God? You can't expect to live the way He did if you tink about Him only occasionally. Constant contact with the Lord is important.

God is unchanging

Today's word: James 1:17-25

17Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

19My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. 21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

How about you?
Do you think it's old-fashioned to stick to old standards? Do you think Christians should keep up with times and be free to do things if they 'sound right' or 'feel good'? Times do change, it's true- and it's okay to change some things. But when it comes to what God has taught in His word, that never changes. The commandments He has given (don't lie, steal, covet etc.) must always be obeyed.

Talk about Jesus

12 Praise be to you, O LORD;
teach me your decrees.

all the laws that come from your mouth.

14 I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.

15 I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.

16 I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.

How about you?
Are you tight-lipped when it comes to telling others about Jesus? Do you think it's enough that your life-style pleases the Lord- that your're honest, kind, helpful, cheerful? That's good, but God also wants to use your lips to spread His message. Don't be afraid to talk about Him.

Obey your parents

Today's word: Proverbs 4:1-10

1 Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction;
pay attention and gain understanding.

2 I give you sound learning,
so do not forsake my teaching.

3 When I was a boy in my father's house,
still tender, and an only child of my mother,

4 he taught me and said,
"Lay hold of my words with all your heart;
keep my commands and you will live.

5 Get wisdom, get understanding;
do not forget my words or swerve from them.

6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;
love her, and she will watch over you.

7 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, [a] get understanding.

embrace her, and she will honor you.

9 She will set a garland of grace on your head
and present you with a crown of splendor."

10 Listen, my son, accept what I say,
and the years of your life will be many.

How about you?
Do you obey your parents? You need their guidance, and God commands you to obey them. Next time you're tempted to disobey, remember that God often uses parents to guard you from danger.

Build with good works

Today's word: 1 Corinthians 3:11-15

11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. 14If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.

How about you?
What are you using to build your life-house? Will you use wood, hay or straw today? Or will you build with materials that will last for eternity- with actions and attitudes that please God?

Don't spread rumors

Today's word: James 3:5-10

5Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

7All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

9With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. 10Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.

How about you?
Do you ever say unkind words? Do you help spread gossip and rumors that will hurt other people? God says that a mouth which is used to bless and praise Him should not be used to hurt others. How will you use your tongue?

God will help with hard things

Today's word: Philippians 4:12-13, 19

12I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

19And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

How about you?
Is it hard for you to pray in public? To meet new people? To give your testimony? When you have to do something you find hard to do, whi is "behind the wheel"? Do you turn to God and seek His help? He'll help you do anything He wants you to do. Just ask Him.

God is with you

Today's word: Isaish 41:11-13

11 "All who rage against you
will surely be ashamed and disgraced;
those who oppose you
will be as nothing and perish.

12 Though you search for your enemies,
you will not find them.
Those who wage war against you
will be as nothing at all.

13 For I am the LORD, your God,
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you.

How about you?
Do you trust God to take care of you? There are many verses in the Bible that tell you not to be afraid. Learn some of these verses and believe them when something frightens you.

Changes comes through the Lord

Today's word: Romans 7:15-15

15I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22For in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

How about you?
So you set impossible goals for yourself, such as "I'll never be bad again"? You see, we all have a sin nature within us. We are human. Even Chriatians do not do what is perfectly right all the time. Recognise that you cannot make a change in your life without the Lord's help. Be positive in your goals, make sure they are reasonable, and rely on Jesus to help you achieve them.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit
